The burden is not being different
Model Citizen, released in 2020. This album is based around the idea that oppression goes deeper than just slavery. Tha Misfit speaks on feeling caged by 9 to 5's (Elevator Thoughts), social pressures like retaliation (Higher Road and Show Me The Way), as well as the obvious pressures of being a black man in America (Model Citizen & This Is Us). The album cover displays a white man riding a black man like a horse. Symbolizing how colonizers have become successful by exploiting God Given talents of others. In addition you see a black woman and a black man scarred by the troubles of discrimination in America, yet the crowd is cheering in satisfaction of other's pain.
OUT OF CONTXT... The mixtape of the bunch. A handful of songs displaying TyKoon's lyrical ability and versatility. Not so much seriousness in this project, yet there is always a message. Sometimes you just want to hop on a beat because it makes you feel good and just want to get something off your chest. Songs like "Prolem" have longer hooks to add to the deep storytelling of misfortune in Richmond, VA's Churchill lifestyle. "Berretta" The love story explaining the ties of 2 women to a man as a metaphor for Tha Misfit's preference of gun as a sidearm. "Body Me" an old classic that displays TyKoon's lyrical versatility. Then there is "Vibin' a fun song made just for enjoying the vibe. You will hear various styles in this project more experimenting than having an actual point to the chaos.
Statement Made. The first album to be released on streaming platforms back in 2017. Statement Made is the album that 1st displayed the creative potential in Tha Misfit. Utilizing clever skits and interludes and each song attracts a different person. Anthems such as "Any Means" took over the radio and opened the eyes of many to what Tha Misfit is truly capable of. Self conscious songs such as "Inner Killer and However The Wind Blows" attract those looking for someone that understands the self sabotaging and danger of holding back the inner beast. Songs like "My Brother's Keeper", talking about how protective we are over our loved ones. Also "Villain", the infamous song talking about how the color of your skin can make people feel threatened for no reason at all. Most of the songs on this project were made in house. Meaning literally, TyKoon made this album alone. During the making of this album, Tha Misfit had no internet to utilize. Fighting just to survive day to day, this album was made out of necessity to take his mind off of the struggles of trying to pay rent and live on his own for the 1st time . The name Statement Made came from the satisfaction of knowing that a great quality of music was made without the backing of a label or machine. All will power showing that TyKoon Tha Misfit is a force to be reckoned with regardless of the obstacles.
All Or Nothin'. The self conscious album. All Or Nothin' speaks to the self doubt. The good & bad of TyKoon Tha Misfit. Expressing the love and hate relationship between music, women, and the trials of balancing them all. More time was put into this project being it took more of a toll to be this vulnerable. All or Nothin' is the 2nd album from TyKoon Tha Misfit following the album Statament Made.
